Over 50 local, state, national and international organizations are endorsing or participating in a walk from Tucson to Phoenix, which left on the 2nd of May and will conclude on Mother's Day, the 11th of May, to call for an end to the racial profiling, indefinate detention, deportation, many racially fomented hate crimes and the inhumane treatment of people within the borders of the United States by a policy of the Department of Homeland Security and supported by several law enforcement agencies at both the county and federal levels throughout the country.
The Citizens Walk from Tucson to Phoenix concluded
at the Arizona State Capitol on May 11, 2008

Everyday families are terrorized, brutalized and their children torn from their parents. This has been going on round the clock for years right under our very noses. It is being censored from us and promoted under the guise of "enforcing immigration laws". The general public knows nothing of this. Sheriff Arpaio is carrying out this policy and
WE MUST BREAK THE SILENCE NOW!
"There are many kinds of separations. Relationships end. People leave each other to go on business trips or vacations. Grown children go away to school or leave home to raise their own families. People die of natural causes, leaving their dear ones behind. Then there is a different sort of separation -- a rending of children from parents, a bizarre example of what was done during the era of Nazi persecution when parents gave their children to strangers so that they might survive. For me, this forced separation represents the abnormality and malignancy of the cancerous tumor that was the Holocaust." (from the Article "Severed, Like a Tree From Its Roots" by Lilian Boraks-Nemetz)
We Must Break the Silence
To Our Friends Around the Country:
Please don't let your state turn into a prototype police state, one of tyranny and terror. As bills are being introduced and signed, without consideration of the impact on human rights and civil rights, there has been an escalation of the violations of human dignity that already exists in the State of Arizona. As it stands, Arizona, and in particular, Maricopa County are already considered Ground Zero of hate crimes, much as Selma, Alabama was some four decades ago.
The already rampant violations by law enforcement officers of human rights, civil rights and constitutional rights will become epidemic also in your state, and like a malignant cancer will spread all over the surface of our country. The terrorizing and victimizing of all people of color will escalate, including Arizona and US citizens. If you do not veto those bills, we appeal to you to PARTICIPATE and DONATE your time resources or whatever you can afford to help in the success Citizens' Walk for Human Dignity. Our purpose is to put an end to this campaign of intolerance and hate in the name of law.
Meanwhile, we are asking for the highest officials of the State of Arizona and of the US Congress to initiate an investigation, indictment, prosecution and conviction of any and all persons, especially those with a law enforcement badge, who would violate the sacredness of our freedoms.

Did you know?
Unknown to most American citizens is the existence of a ten-year plan by Homeland Security called "Endgame" to rid the country of every single undocumented immigrant, man, woman and child by the year 2012. It has been moving at an accelerated rate and is right on schedule. Sheriff Arpaio is signed on to this plan and is behind his sweeps "against crime".
Already immense detention centers have been built and the political and social infrastructure is in place to carry this task out. In January of 2006, Kellogg, Brown and Root (a division of Halliburton) was awarded a $385 Million dollar contract to build detention facilities in the event of "an illegal immigration crisis". The Eloy, AZ detention facility is being quickly expanded.
